PRESIDENT / CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

Jim has nearly 30 years of experience in providing services to individuals with disabilities and more than 10 years leading early childhood education programming. Prior to his service at Carey Services, he worked at a regional Aging & Disability Resource Center for 15 years. Jim’s experience includes health care, non-profit management, social services, fundraising, public relations, early childhood education, marketing & promotion, and agency administration. He has been with Carey Services since 2013. Jim is a board member for Strategic Indiana Provider Network, the Strategic Insurance Trust, and Greater Grant County (Grant County’s Chamber of Commerce). Jim received his bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Anderson University and  earned a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA) from Anderson University.

David Smith

VICE PRESIDENT OF FINANCE

David has been with Carey Services since 2005 in various business office and accounting capacities. He was named director of finance in 2018. Before joining Carey Services, he was a billing specialist at another local not-for-profit agency for nine years. He graduated from Indiana Wesleyan University in 2002 with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Finance. He is a graduate of the Leadership Grant County program and is a board member and treasurer of the Marion Philharmonic Orchestra. He also is a board member and finance committee member of Ability Indiana.

Brandi Foreman

VICE PRESIDENT OF DISABILITY SERVICES

Brandi is a seasoned professional with an unwavering commitment to the human services sector since 2013. Her fervor lies in empowering individuals to transform their unique abilities into limitless opportunities, driven not only by professional dedication but also by her personal role as a family member of someone with an intellectual disability. At Carey Services, Brandi has donned various hats, showcasing her adaptability and leadership skills. From spearheading the role of Day Services Manager to becoming the Qualified Intellectual Disability Professional, Director of Quality Assurance and Training, she has consistently proven her capabilities. Her journey reached new heights in March 2021 when she was appointed Vice President of Disability Services, a testament to her exceptional skills and dedication to making a positive impact.

Brandi’s educational journey mirrors her commitment to continuous growth. In 2015, she earned her Master of Arts in Adult and Community Education from Ball State University, solidifying her expertise in facilitating learning and fostering community engagement. Her leadership acumen is further underscored by her participation in esteemed programs. Brandi is a proud graduate of the 2021 INARF Leadership Academy, showcasing her commitment to ongoing professional development. Additionally, she successfully completed the 2016 Leadership Grant County program, adding a valuable layer to her leadership skill set.

Brandi’s impact extends beyond her immediate professional sphere. In 2023, she was honored with the INARF Pinnacle Award, recognizing her outstanding contributions to the field. Notably, her commitment to excellence led to her acceptance into the ANCOR Foundation Leadership Academy 2026 Cohort, solidifying her position as a forward-thinking trailblazer. Beyond her role as a dedicated professional, Brandi serves as a CARF Surveyor, leveraging her expertise to uphold and promote high standards within the human service programs. Her involvement in this capacity underscores her commitment to ensuring the quality and effectiveness of human service initiatives.

Beth Wickham

VICE PRESIDENT OF EARLY CHILDHOOD DEVELOPMENT

Beth has more than 20 years of experience in Head Start programming. She began her Head Start career as a teacher and eventually became site director and education coordinator with the Community and Family Services program in Portland, Ind., before joining Carey Services in 2018. She is a Gas City native and Mississinewa High School graduate. She has a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education from Ashford University and plans to pursue a master’s degree in early childhood education.

Kelly Scher

VICE PRESIDENT OF ADVANCEMENT

Kelly joined Carey Services in 2021, bringing with her a wealth of experience in both sales and marketing as well as non-profit management. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Sales and Marketing from Purdue University (1996) and earned her Masters of Business Administration from Indiana University in 2005. With a professional background spanning 13 years in sales and marketing, Kelly seamlessly transitioned into the non-profit sector, accumulating 11 years of experience in marketing, fund development, communication, and grant writing and management. Her passion for community service extends beyond her professional role, as she actively volunteers her time. Currently, Kelly serves on the CASA of Grant County Board of Directors and the Grant County 4-H Council. Kelly’s dedication and diverse skill set make her an invaluable asset to the Carey Services team, contributing to the organization’s mission of “Turning abilities into opportunities.”
