As part of our vocational work, Carey Services’ workshop and day services staff members provide pre-vocational training for clients interested in pursuing community employment. As part of their initial admissions evaluation, clients are assessed for some employment skills. Those assessment results are included as part of the person-centered planning process and included in planning.

The workshop staff provides person-centered training opportunities in our production facility to help clients build transferrable skills employers desire in a community job setting. Day services staff also work with those clients throughout each workweek to help them build soft skills such as hygiene and interpersonal skills that will help them succeed in a community job.

When a client has developed a base of those skills, Carey Services employment services staff will begin working with the client to help them seek community employment.
