VOCATIONAL REHABILITATION
                                                                              O

During the summer of 2024, the Pre-Employment
Transition Services (Pre-ETS) program teamed up
with the eMPower Academy at Carey Services to
offer students a unique experience. Over the course
of two week-long sessions, called Skills
        Enhancement, Exploration, and Discovery (SEED),
        students explored hands-on learning and
participated in engaging activities. Afternoons were
spent touring local businesses and organizations,
providing a well-rounded glimpse into opportunities
within the community. We couldn’t have done this
without the help of funding from the United Way of
        Grant County!

During the second week, one recently graduated student discovered a passion for advanced manufacturing.
After spending an hour in the Pre-Manufacturing Lab experiencing the Catapult Indiana, an advanced
manufacturing program, she asked many thoughtful questions and expressed a strong interest in officially
enrolling in the program. As she transitioned from Pre-ETS to the Employment Services program, staff
collaborated to help her join the next Catapult Indiana session, beginning July 1, with support from Vocational
        Rehabilitation.

To ensure she could attend classes daily, the Transportation Department added her to the Work
Transportation Route, providing reliable rides to and from the organization. This collaboration between Pre-
ETS, Employment Services, the eMPower Academy, and Transportation exemplifies the impact of teamwork
and a shared commitment to supporting individuals. By working together with her best interests in mind, we
were able to empower this student to take the next step toward achieving her goals.
