    2020 Duck Race Winners Announced

    Thank you to everyone who supported the 14th annual Carey Services Duck Race, which was presented this year by Marion General Hospital.

    It’s been great to see the community support we’ve received in these unique times, and we truly appreciate all of you who sponsored this year’s race and/or bought duck tickets. Thank you also for tuning in to watch the Facebook Live broadcast from The Splash House. It was a great day to be at a water park … if only we could have taken a trip around the lazy river after we gathered the ducks after their annual swim. Hopefully next year, we can actually get wet.

    Congratulations, too, to this year’s winners. The cash winners were: $1,000 cash – Angela Pennington, $500 cash – Mike Roorbach, $300 cash – Agricore, $200 cash – John Bottoms, $100 cash – Agricore. The door prize winners were: OGIO golf travel bag donated by John Jones – Kristie Butcher, Holiday World admission tickets – Gary Masiongale, Rolling golf caddy from Northwest Bank – Gary Masiongale, $30 in Visa gift cards – Peerless Printing, $15 in Visa gift cards – Doug Bryant.

    As we put the ducks to bed for another year, the real race winners every year are the individuals we serve. Your generous support allows us to use the money raised through the race to continue turning abilities into opportunities.

    NAP Tax Credits Available

    The Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority has again awarded Carey Services Neighborhood Assistance Program (NAP) tax credits to sell to donors.

    Individuals and businesses who donate to Carey Services through NAP are able to take a tax credit on their Indiana state income tax return for 50 percent of the amount of the donation and reduce their tax liability to the state. Donors also are able to claim the donation on their federal tax returns. A minimum $100 donation must be made to be eligible for a tax credit.

    The donations received through NAP will be used for agency’s early childhood education facilities and programming.

    Article Highlights Thriving Families Partnership

    Carey Services was recently featured in the Chronicle-Tribune in a page that describes the relationship the agency has developed with Thriving Families Thriving Grant County.

    The page highlights the relationship the two organizations have developed to improve early childhood education opportunities for Grant County families, and it also includes a brief question-and-answer column with Jim Allbaugh, Carey Services’ president and chief executive, on common vision between the two organizations.
